I know my kids are nowhere near ready, they’re 6 and 8. They each have fire tablets that they use for traveling and a shared Nintendo Switch that already feel like a lot to manage. I appreciate how much my kids need to grow before they can handle that much freedom and we are working as a family to create several phone free times throughout the days we spend together particularly as we are about to go to the beach with family.
My twin sister and I shared our first phone when we were nearly 18 but I kept it in my room at night that first summer. Neither my husband nor I had smart phones until 2012 long after we had graduated college.
