What to wear to the book party and other crucial questions.
Getting ready for the party and the marathon.
I was supposed to take our kid to a cross country race in the city, THEN to a debate thing, and THEN to my book party today, but a migraine intervened, so my partner is doing it (he was supposed to be on party prep duty today, which he’s still also doing!) Gearing up for the weather and the long race with sunscreen and don’t forget the water bottle and the after-race apple feels very much like what I’m about to do with the book tour.
I’m super excited but also a little scared. Will I have it in the tank after 3 years of Zoom talks to be in person at events and on the road 3-4 nights a week for the next three months?
It is honestly a mix of exciting and terrifying. And all the usual things are happening. Like the cake topper not showing up and will we have enough napkins and is it a little too chilly for the dress I planned to wear?
Also, I’ve been working on this book for five years. What if someone doesn’t like how I told their story, or what if a major social app has a different name now (true story) or what if there is a sentence on page 83 that really could have been cut?
Get the book!
If you can grab a copy for yourself, or for a parent or educator friend, I’ll be so grateful. Or get it at ANY independent bookstore. Here I am at Blue House Bookstore in Kenosha after signing the copy they had in the back. That could be YOURS. If your indie doesn’t have it, they can get it for you in a couple of days, just ask.
For an invitation to my Zoom book launch event with Jessica Lahey on September 18th, (a week after launch as a thank you to all who pre-ordered!) please fill out the form here with a cut and paste of your order info! I can’t wait to see you there. We’ll be talking about ALL the things. Social Media. Body Image. Writing books. Things we wish we knew about social media before we had older teens/young adults.

Hope to see some of you when I’m on the road!
Finally, thank you! Thank you for the sweet notes when you see articles coming out about the book or hear me on the radio. Thanks for sharing the book with friends. Thanks for telling me your stories. I appreciate you so much. You are the best! I think I’m going to wear the dress and bring a sweater.
I thought you were going to tell me what to wear to my book party! :-(
Mazel tov!
I’m so excited for you! I can understand the nerves, though! I’m also excited for all the families this book will help!
